Macduff 33yo

For your next sunless day, I suggest you to discover a whisky that will brighten your day, the Macduff 33yo by… Macduff. Have to say it’s not the same Macduff as the one from the distillery, maybe they’re from the same family but this one is an independent bottler. Well, we don’t care, there are certainly a lot of Macduff in Scotland. This whisky (47.5%), from the collection “The Golden Cask Reserve”, is a limited edition of 125 bottles  and comes from the CM210 cask. Here we go for the tasting notes 😀

Macduff 33yo

Nose: We directly know that this one will be a very fruity one! And more precisely we’ve got here yellow fruits, apricots with a little extra sweetness brought by caramel and honeyed notes. It’s very fresh and very sweet, a fabulous nose as I like them!

Mouth: Like for the nose, yellow fruits predominate, a beautiful fruity delicacy with slight spicy notes. The apricot is a little less present than with the nose but… Damn, it is fresh and sweet again! A fruity delight enhanced by a touch of oak. As my grandmother would say, “the little Jesus in velvet panties” <3

Finish: Long, honeyed and fruity to finish in style. A note of tea, wood and spices also.

Note: 91/100

This Macduff 33yo is really fabulous, with a nice balance, and these fruity notes will delight all whisky lovers (and specially Speyside whisky lovers, of course). That’s totally my stuff and I want more! And… this bottle is superb with this landscape printed on the back and which stands out as relief through the whisky. Well done guys!

Unfortunately, sold out for a long time. 190 € for a bottle of whisky of this quality (and this age), that was predictable. Yeah, I know, I’m a fuckin’ bastard to make your mouth water like that if you can’t find it. But, you never know, you may find it in auctions, in a masterclass or in a small shop…
