Highland Park Loki

Do you want to discover more of the Valhalla collection from Highland Park? Alright! After Thor, here is the Highland Park Loki 😀 Bottled at the strength of the barrel (48.7%), it is, like the rest of the collection, presented in an elegant wooden box figuring the bow of a viking ship. Is this one as good as his brother? Let’s discover this with the tasting notes!

Highland Park LokiNoseA brutal and strong alcohol attack. A rather mineral whisky with some slightly fruity touches. More spicy notes are felt after a while. The nose is not as complex and pleasant as for its predecessor… and even a little disappointing.

Mouth: More pleasant than the nose foreshadowed! You can feel more fuity notes, including apples and grapefruit. We also have peaty and earthy notes. A touch of spices, honey and ginger. Very pleasant!

Finish: A long and fruity finish, on citrus fruits.

Note: 89/100

Great for us that the mouth is a lot better than the nose, but it remains a little below Thor. It is nevertheless an excellent whisky, bringing a different touch to the range and suggesting great possibilities to vary the pleasures 😀

Available for 160 € at its release, this Highland Park Loki quickly become a collector’s item and especially a product of speculation. So for this one too you’ll have to try to get it (at a reasonable price) in auctions (do not expect to get it for less than £210, in the best case, excluding fees).

Next to come… Highland Park Freya! 😀
